1000km de Paris Poster Linas Montlhery 1969 – Vintage Car Poster – Beligond This is a reproduction of the classic original 1000km de Paris Poster created by Michel Beligond, for the 1969 motor racing event sponsored by the TOTAL petroleum company. The artist’s superb image depicts the beautiful Matra MS650. The French-built car replaced the MS630 and made its debut at the 1969 24 Hours of Le Mans in June of 1969. The Matra-Simca is pictured racing at full speed down one of the long straights of the Autodrome de Montlhery racetrack. The blue Matra is within sight of a chasing white, German produced Porsche 908 with, what looks like, a red, British-made Lola T70 bringing up the rear. The name of the racetrack, Linas Montlhery, is picked out of the dark blue background in bold white letters. Beneath the dramatic and dynamic racing image, we are provided with the event details. The poster reads “1000 km de Paris” Dimanche 12 Octobre 1969. Organises par l’A.S.A.C.I.F. Sous le patronage de Total. The petroleum company’s logo appears in the bottom right-hand corner. The 1969 1000km de Paris In its heyday, the 12km Montlhéry circuit, located a stone’s throw from Paris, bore witness to classic inter-War Grands Prix, countless speed records, and, of course, numerous 1,000km endurance races. In 1969, the 1000 km race in Paris was once again part of a racing series. The French circuit championship was a championship consisting of international and national sports car races. In addition to the 12-hour race in Sebring and the 1000-km races in Monza and Zeltweg , the Coupes de Vitesse and the Coupe du Salon , two other events that take place in Montlhéry, are part of the series, along with other races. The 1000 Kilometres of Paris was an endurance race, mainly for sports cars, which was held at the Autodrome de Linas-Montlhéry in France from 1956 to 1995. It was the ninth Paris 1000 km race, also 1000 km de Paris (Course International de Vitesse D’Endurance), Linas-Montlhéry. The race was the ninth race of the French circuit championship of 1969. The 1000 km de Paris race meeting was held on Sunday 12 October 1969. The race was entered by thirty seven drivers although only thirty one took the starting grid. The cars were divided into three groups Group 3, the Grand Touring cars, Group 4 Sports cars and Group 6 for prototypes. For many motor sport fans, the racing cars of the 1960s and 1970s are amongst the best ever made. Some incredible cars were entered into the race. These included Arbarth 1000SP, Chevron B16, Ferrari 275, Ford GT40, Lolo T70, Matra 650, and the Nomad Mk2. Porsche were represented by their 908, 910 and 911 models, and Peugeot by their WM P69. Drivers from nine countryies, Italy, Great Britain, France, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland Holland, Germany and the United States, formed the thirty one racing drivers that started the race. The race, also known as the 1000-km-Rennen von Paris 1969 was won by French racing drivers, Jean-Pierre Beltoise and Henri Pescarolo for the Équipe Matra-Elf team driving their Matra-Simca MS650 by completing the 75 lap race in a time of 3 h 27 min 23 s.
