Although there is no confirmation on the poster, it was most likely published by one of the French Railway companies or State Railway that Soubie regularly produced poster designs for. In the 1920s, rail companies were operating during a period of intense competition for passenger traffic, and Soubie’s vibrant, dynamic posters played a key role in attracting travellers. Soubie’s railway posters played a significant role in shaping the public’s perception of train travel in France during the interwar period. Roger Soubie transports us to the clubhouse on the Golf du Sporting Club de Vichy golf course. When the course first opened in 1908, it was one of the very first golf courses in France. The nine-hole course, renowned for its extraordinary beauty, lush fairways, and real botanical wonder was designed by Arnaud Massy, a famous French champion and winner of the British Open. The club attracted royalty, aristocracy, celebrities, and wealthy socialites from across Europe and beyond.
