The Creature is portrayed giving chase to the beautiful Kay Lawrence, played by the actress Julia Adams, through the waters of the Black Lagoon. Unlike the cult black and white film, the poster’s wonderful artwork is created with pastels and is bright and colourful. Creature from the Black Lagoon Creature from the Black Lagoon is a 1954 American black-and-white monster horror film. It was produced by William Alland and directed by Jack Arnold. It stars  Richard Carlson, Julia Adams, Richard Denning, Antonio Moreno and Whit Bissell. Presumably in an effort to maintain the illusion that ‘Gill man’ was a genuine prehistoric creature, the two actors that played him are not credited on the poster.
